Rizal Bahri

YSEALI Marine Debris Expedition, Indonesia, 2018

Rizal Bahri is the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) coordinator at the Ibnu Sina Public Hospital in Gresik, Indonesia. He implements safe, sustainable, low-carbon healthcare waste management and routinely calculates the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from hospital operations to provide the baseline data for the hospital's climate-resilient program. Rizal is also the vice president of the Indonesian Association of Environmental Health (HAKLI) in Gresik and a member of RISE Southeast Asian Alliance for Health and Climate, an alliance of health professionals to advance climate action, health equity, resilience, and a healthy recovery in Southeast Asia.


Rizal is an alumnus of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Marine Debris Expedition. After his participation, he conducted marine litter mapping on the coast of Kenjeran, Surabaya using the methodology that he and his team developed during the program. He completed his vocational diploma program in environmental health and a bachelor's degree of applied health science in environmental health from the Polytechnic Health Ministry of Health Surabaya.

Davrina Rianda

YSEALI Women’s Leadership Academy, United States, 2021

Davrina is a passionate researcher and educator on maternal and child health and nutrition, especially to support the first 1000 days of life. In 2020, she founded Lab Pintar (translation: Smart Lab) that aims to promote evidence-based decision-making among Indonesian parents for smart and healthy generations. She is an incoming Ph.D. student at the University of California, Davis with a fully funded scholarship from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education and is currently a researcher at the Human Nutrition Research Center, Indonesian Medical Education and Research Institute (HNRC-IMERI), Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia.

Davrina has published several papers related to maternal and child nutrition in multiple journals, including the Journal of Functional Foods and Beneficial Microbes. For the past two years, she has been working as the project coordinator of a randomized controlled trial investigating the promotion of maternal gut microbiota on fetal brain and child cognitive development (BRAVE Project), which involves 300 pregnant mothers in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Davrina is an alumna of the YSEALI Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA) in 2021 where she won a WLA YSEALI seed grant to establish Jaga Mama (translation: Protect Mothers) that focuses on maternal empowerment with learning resources and support networks among women in Southeast Asia. Jaga Mama has published an e-book for the mothers and maintained over 200 mothers from various countries in the support group. Davrina received her bachelor’s degree in medicine, medical doctor, and master’s degree in nutrition from Universitas Indonesia.

Fauzan Rofiq

Fulbright Foreign Student Program, United States, 2013-2015

Fauzan Rofiq currently serves as a compliance supervisor at PT Dowa Eco System Indonesia, a subsidiary company of DOWA Eco-System Co. Ltd. His responsibility is to ensure that the construction activities and the operational plan of the second only integrated hazardous and non-hazardous waste management facility in Indonesia are following Indonesian laws, regulations, and standards. He joined PT. Dowa Eco System Indonesia in 2018 as a project assistant where he helped pioneer the integrated hazardous and non-hazardous waste management facility project before he assumed the position of the compliance supervisor in 2022. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, he has been involved in developing the company’s COVID-19 preparedness and response plan.

Prior to joining PT. Dowa Eco System Indonesia, Fauzan was a certified environmental impact assessment (EIA) specialist in Indonesia. He was involved in EIA for multiple development projects for the Indonesian government and private companies for four years.

Fauzan obtained his bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in 2011. In 2015, he obtained his MPH in environmental health science and a certificate in disaster management at the University of Georgia under the Fulbright Master of Science and Technology Initiative Degree Program. He was a 2014 Richard B. Russell Leadership UGA Fellow. He is a member of Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health, inducted in 2015.
