Cheng Cheng Wu

Professional Fellows Program, United States, 2019

Cheng Cheng Wu has served in multiple roles as project manager, policy researcher, and campaigner focusing on energy transition issues at an environmental NGO in Taiwan since 2015. She is currently working with the International Hydropower Association as a research and policy intern. Her career vision is to build a cross- national movement of energy transition and to integrate the core values of energy democracy and justice.

She took up the initiative to convene NGOs, local communities, and academics to form a coalition that stopped the construction of the final coal-fired plant in Taiwan by publishing a proposal to use renewable energy. Additionally, she coordinated the "2050 Taiwan Carbon Net- Zero Project" by working closely with international think tanks. During the project, she tracked the progress of modeling, led discussions to reach consensus on the carbon reduction goal for each sector, and promoted the outcome to the public. Cheng Cheng also designed the "Energy Democracy Workshop" and assisted around fifty local companies and communities on energy-efficiency initiative training.

Cheng Cheng received a MSc in environmental change and management from Oxford University in September 2021. She also holds a double bachelor's degree in political science and sociology, researching environmental conflicts. She is an alumna of the Professional Fellows Program.
